| Mr K N Rai, Chief
Executive, Civil Works and Estates, DRDO was born
on 24 December, 1943. He obtained his B.Tech degree
in Civil Engineering from Institute of Technology,
BHU, M.Tech in Structural Engineering from IIT,
Kharagpur and PGDM in Systems Management from Jamna
Lal Bajaj Insitute of Management, Mumbai. He also
underwent training in Intellectual Property Rights
from World Wide Academy (UN).
Mr. Rai joined the Corps of Engineers, Indian
Army, in 1969 and served in various capacities
for 17 years including taking active part in
the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Serving in LADAKH for
over two years he built roads and concrete bunkers
in the Turtruk sector and carried out camouflage
and concealment of Leh region. At Delhi he carried
out planning, design and execution of technical
facilities for High Powered Radar Communication
Project for the Indian Air Force. In Mumbai he
designed high-rise buildings and heavy workshops
for ship building structure for the Navy. In
the year 1984 he took over as Garrison Engineer(R&D),
in-charge of the prestigious Missile Testing
Range which was his introduction to specialised
works of DRDO.
He served as Chief Construction Engineer (RDCE)
from 1989-2000, and was Posted to his present
assignment of Chief Executive in the year 2000.
In his two decades of service with DRDO, he has
undertaken innumerable projects with customary
zeal and dedication.
He has authored a number of technical papers
and is an accomplished public speaker on a wide
range of subjects. He is a Fellow of the Institution
of Engineers (India) and Institute of Valuers
(India). He is Member of American Society of
Civil Engineers, American Concrete Institute,
Indian Roads Congress, Institution of Military
Engineers, Indian Concrete Institute, Indian
Institute of Bridge Engineers, International
Institute of Consultants and Institute of Defence
Studies & Analysis. He is a Chartered Engineer
and a Govt Approved Valuer.
He has high techno-managerial skills with a
result oriented approach, sustained over a career
spanning 37 years during which he has shaped
a substantial part of the built infrastructure
of DRDO and of numerous other Defence establishments.
He has been awarded Commendations of the Chief
of the Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff and
also conferred with the DRDO Technology Award
as well as Agni award of excellence. his latest
achivement is creation of the DRDO Bhawan in
Lutiyan's Bungalow Zone, New Delhi. |
