Defence Research & Development Organisation is engaged in developing indigenous knowledge and technology to look after the needs of defence forces. It is well known that almost all the areas of technology development are interdisciplinary in nature for which specialists belong to different specialties like Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and their sub-specialties need to interact in a constructive and cohesive manner. Only then the lofty goal of upliftment of machine and man-behind-the machine can be achieved. In order to develop a common platform where scientists of various disciplines could interact for mutual development the Defence Science Forum has been created in the year 1994 keeping in mind the objectives of interaction of scientists of various disciplines, to foster fellowship, exchange of ideas with luminaries of different disciplines and feasibility & planning of all inter-disciplinary projects where expert opinion is required.
To meet these objectives periodical invited lectures, colloquium and seminars
are organised by this forum. Besides
these Defence Science
Forum also organise special functions on National
Science Day and on Technology Day.
Besides celebrating National Science Day on 28th February and National Technology Day on 11th May every year, Defence Science Forum regularly organises seminars and symposia where eminent Scientists of DRDO as well as outside DRDO give talks on various subjects. |
